On Saturday night Joe Fournier will take on KSI, but that will be nowhere near as daunting as when he came up against David Haye.
It all began when the two friends were arguing at a dinner on holiday in Mykonos about who would win a fight between them and it escalated into a real contest.
In September 2021, the pair met in the ring, with both men relatively inactive.
Fournier having had one fight in the last five years, while Haye had not competed since his duo of clashes with Tony Bellew in 2018.
Unsurprisingly, the former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion Haye came out on top.
With that being said, 9-0 professional boxer Fournier put in a valiant effort to go the distance, losing out by unanimous decision.
Although, it did not seem as if Haye was really going for it, as he pretty much only threw his jab, but even that carried some power as he put Fournier down in round one.
Fournier has since even admitted to talkSPORT: “David Haye can f***ing punch and I felt that with the little gloves, he can punch for real.”
Having been in with such a formidable fighter, this should make Fournier’s upcoming bout against KSI on Saturday night – live on talkSPORT – far less intimidating in comparison.
It got very heated between the two men at their recent press conference, but Fournier insists he is relaxed ahead of fight night.
“It’s just handbags at dawn,” Fournier said. “when you have real s*** in your life, people ask, ‘How are you so relaxed?’
“But why would I not be relaxed? We’re going to box on Saturday, ten ounce gloves, and may the best man win.
“I don’t even have any issue with KSI, I like him, I think he’s a nice bloke, he’s just getting knocked out and that’s not going to change.”
