Novak Djokovic has broken a tie with Roger Federer and collected a record-breaking seventh ATP Finals title. On Sunday, Djokovic ousted Jannik Sinner 6-3 6-3 in the final at the ATP Finals in Turin. Last year, Djokovic won his sixth ATP Finals title and tied Federer for the most titles at the prestigious season-ending tournament.

This year, Djokovic successfully defended his ATP Finals title and became the first-ever male player with seven titles at the season-ending tournament. After claiming the all-time Grand Slam record this year and also breaking Steffi Graf’s all-time record for the most weeks spent at the world No 1 spot by a man or woman, Djokovic has collected another major record in 2023.

Before breaking Graf’s all-time record in tennis, Djokovic beat Federer’s record for the most weeks spent at the world No 1 spot in men’s tennis in 2021.

When Djokovic, Federer won their ATP Finals titles?

Federer became an ATP Finals champion in 2003 after beating Andre Agassi in the tournament’s final.

The following year, Federer won back-to-back ATP Finals titles. Federer finished as the runner-up at the ATP Finals in 2005 but won back-to-back titles at the tournament again in 2006 and 2007. Federer clinched his fifth and sixth ATP Finals titles in 2010 and 2011.

On the other side, Djokovic’s ATP Finals story started in 2008, when he beat Nikolay Davydenko in the final to win his first title at the season-ending tournament. Between 2012 and 2015, Djokovic absolutely dominated the ATP Finals and captured four consecutive titles.

Then, Djokovic surprisingly went five ATP Finals appearances without a title. Last year, Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud in the final in Turin to finally end his ATP Finals drought. After getting back to winning ways at the ATP Finals in 2022, Djokovic made another triumphant run at the season-ending tournament this year.

Meanwhile, Djokovic’s 2023 season still isn’t over. Between November 21-26, the Davis Cup Final 8 will be taking place in Malaga. Serbia is set to take on Great Britain in the quarterfinal and Djokovic will be representing his nation.

Djokovic has repeated several times over the last few months that he wants to lead Serbia to their second Davis Cup title.
