Author of a very solid new card this Sunday, Céline Boutier won her first Major, at home in France, in front of an audience committed to her cause. What open the door to many other victories.

Céline Boutier, statements

“It was my biggest dream since I started watching golf.

This tournament has always been very special to me, if only watching it when I was a teenager. I also wondered if it would ever happen. To be able to hold this trophy is pretty amazing. Any major win is amazing enough but it’s even harder to do it at home.

I think my experience here has helped me a lot to handle the pressure better this week, having played it many times in the past. It really gives me a lot of confidence in my ability to win other Majors. I felt a little overwhelmed hearing the songs, my name and their joy.

I was on the verge of crying, but tried to focus on my last two putts. It was quite incredible to see the world around the fairway, the green, to see and hear the songs and the encouragement of the public. It was an experience I will never forget and I couldn’t have asked for more.”I tried to take little moments throughout the day to absorb the environment and the atmosphere a little, after certain good shots, when we had a little waiting time, a few moments here and there.

I knew a good start would be the key to the day, and I started really well. I hit two good shots at 1 to put myself in a good position and I birdied. The second birdie at 2 was a bit unexpected, a bit of luck I think with a good putt.

The third birdie, at 5, was too. A lot happened in the first five holes. It was really nice to be able to make those shots early on, and I was able to relax a bit more. It really wasn’t easy, but the conditions were so tricky that I felt like it could change very quickly, so I tried to stay focused on every shot and every hole at the same time.

It had really stayed in the present moment, hitting good shots.”I think the most difficult period was my transition to the pros… The last as an amateur and the first as a pro. I really couldn’t play without stress. I had blockages, panic attacks.

I had a lot of help and I would never have made it without my entourage, but it’s good that it’s not always life in pink”.
