John McEnroe is offering Carlos Alcaraz to coach him on grass as the former three-time Wimbledon champion believes the Spaniard figuring out the grass is “just a matter of when, not if.”Prior to the start of the grass season, world No 1 Alcaraz admitted there were things and lessons he needed to learn about playing on grass.
Last week, 20-year-old Alcaraz exceeded his own expectations in his first grass season tournament as he captured the title at the prestigious Queen’s Club.“This guy is going to figure it out. It’s just a matter of when to me, not if,” McEnroe said of Alcaraz’s grass-court game ahead of Wimbledon, via The Daily Mail.According to The Daily Mail, McEnroe also said that he “would love to coach Alcaraz on grass.”

McEnroe, a former world No 1, captured seven Grand Slam titles and three of those seven titles came at Wimbledon. In 2016, McEnroe worked with Milos Raonic during the grass season.
That year, Raonic made the finals at Queen’s and Wimbledon – losing to Andy Murray on both occasions.McEnroe certainly knows a thing or two about playing on the grass and there is no doubt that he can help a player who is trying to figure out the fastest and trickiest tennis surface. But Alcaraz is already making positive strides in his attempt to figure out playing on the grass. After winning Queen’s, Alcaraz admitted his expectations for Wimbledon increased.
“Well, I am coming now (to play) Wimbledon with a lot of confidence, that’s obvious, but I saw a statistic that Novak has won more matches at Wimbledon than any top-20 player. What can I say about that? Novak is the main favorite to win Wimbledon, that’s obvious, but I will try to play at this level to have chances to beat him or make the final at Wimbledon,” Alcaraz said.
