Priscilla Presley Reveals Chilling Details About Lisa Marie’s Death

The world was shocked back in January when Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 54. Now, her mother Priscilla Presley is opening up about Lisa Marie’s death, saying that she knew “there was something not right” days before her passing.

‘There Was Something Not Right’

“I did know there was something not right,” Priscilla, 78, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Days before Lisa Marie died, Priscilla shared a laugh with her at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles as the mother and daughter celebrated Austin Butler’s Golden Globe victory for his work playing Elvis in the biopic Elvis.

“We had just gotten there, you go down all these stairs,” Priscilla recalled. “I tripped a little bit because I had these high heels on, and she started laughing so hard. I started laughing. We hadn’t even had a drink yet. She goes, ‘Oh my God, Mom, you can’t even have a drink.’ It was fun, a fun memory. Then we sat down and ordered drinks, and she says, ‘Mom, my stomach hurts really bad.’ We immediately got up and left.”

It was only a few days later that Lisa Marie’s ex-husband Danny Keough called Priscilla and told her to come to the hospital immediately, but it was sadly already too late.

“I got right in the car, but she was already gone,” Priscilla recounted. “I still can’t believe it. I don’t wish this on any mother.”

Legal Battle Over Will 

After Lisa Marie’s death, a legal battle ensued between Priscilla and her oldest granddaughter Riley Keough over her will. This fight was launched as Priscilla questioned the “authenticity and validity” of the will after finding out that it had been amended in 2016 to cut her out of it, replacing her with Riley and her late brother Benjamin Keough as the sole trustees. Benjamin sadly committed suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.

The case was later resolved, and Priscilla was quick to shut down media reports alleging that there was tension between her and Riley.

“Riley is now the executor, which should be right, obviously, being her daughter,” Priscilla said. “Riley and I are on good terms. We were never not on good terms. That was all publicity.”

“This is private and this is not something to fool around with and say that we’re not agreeing,” she continued. “In fact, I’m having dinner with [Riley] tonight. We understand what needs to be done. I’m there for her. She knows that. She wants me there for her to help her.”

Riley Speaks Out 

Riley, an actress who currently is starring in “Daisy Jones & The Six,” issued a statement of her own about the situation.

“Things with Grandma will be happy. They’ve never not been happy,” she said. “She was a huge part of creating my grandfather’s legacy and Graceland. He was the love of her life. Anything that would suggest otherwise in the press makes me sad because, at the end of the day, all she wants is to love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and the legacy.”
